Batangas: Anilao, Laiya, and the port

VRM Mobility

South of Metro Manila, Batangas is a common choice for a beach stay, a dive trip, or a transfer onward by ferry.

Three stops cover most of the trips people book. Anilao is for the water, Laiya is for a beach, and Batangas Port is the terminal if the journey continues by sea. Taal town is an extra stop when the day is not only a resort or a sailing.

VRM Mobility provides private, chauffeur-driven transportation from Metro Manila to Batangas. Whether you're planning a resort stay, a ferry connection, or a weekend away, we can arrange a suitable vehicle based on your itinerary, passengers, and luggage.

The Batangas coast, from a resort or the port road

Getting to Batangas from Metro Manila

Batangas is the province south of Manila. Travelers commonly reach it through the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the STAR Tollway. The last stretch depends on the stop: Mabini for Anilao, east through San Juan town for Laiya, and Batangas City for the port.

Travel time depends on your pickup location, which stop you are going to, and traffic. Laiya uses the same toll road as the port, then continues east through San Juan. Weekend arrivals bunch up on that last stretch, so a morning departure is the difference between a swim before lunch and a late check-in.

With a private vehicle and professional driver, you can travel directly from your residence, hotel, or office without arranging multiple transfers.

Places to Visit in Batangas

Choose the stop that matches the trip. Anilao, Laiya, and the port are different coasts, so name the one you actually need.

Anilao

Anilao is the coast in Mabini, on Balayan Bay. Resorts here face the reef, not a long swimming beach. It is the dive and snorkel side of Batangas, and it is close enough to Manila for a night or two.

It is a poor match if you wanted a wide shore to sit on. That shore is Laiya. Tell the resort you are coming for the water, and book the boat with them before you leave the city.

Laiya

Laiya is the beach strip in San Juan. Resorts line the coast, and most guests stay on the property: swim, eat, and skip the sightseeing.

Plan a morning departure from Metro Manila, especially on weekends and holidays, when the road through San Juan town is slower.

Batangas Port

Batangas Port, which most people still call Batangas Pier, is in Batangas City. It is the usual terminal for Mindoro. Crossings to Calapan and Puerto Galera are the frequent ones.

Longer sailings also leave for Romblon, for Caticlan if you are continuing to Boracay, and for Palawan, on days the shipping line sets. The pier number depends on the route. Confirm the sailing and which pier it uses before you leave Manila, and arrive with time to spare if you are catching a morning fast craft with luggage.

Taal Town

Taal Lake and the heritage houses in Taal town are on this side of the province. They fit a Batangas day that is not only a beach or a ferry.

They do not replace Anilao or Laiya if those were the point of the trip.

Anilao, Laiya, or the approach to Batangas Port

Suggested Batangas Day Trip

If you're planning a beach day from Metro Manila, here's a sample itinerary for Laiya. Anilao and port trips should be timed to the resort boat or the sailing instead.

TimeActivity
Early morningPickup from Metro Manila
Late morningArrive in Laiya
MiddayResort check-in, lunch, and beach time
AfternoonTime at the resort
Late afternoonDepart for Metro Manila, or stay overnight

This is a sample itinerary only. Travel times vary with the stop, the route, and traffic. A port transfer should be planned around the confirmed sailing and pier. Departure and return times should be adjusted according to your booking.
