Vigan: Long-Distance & Multi-Day Tours

VRM Mobility

In Ilocos Sur, Vigan is a long-distance trip. The old town is the reason to go, and the drive from Metro Manila is long enough that the visit needs at least one night.

Most private trips stay two nights: a travel day north, a day in the heritage center, and a travel day back. Adding Laoag or Pagudpud is a longer tour, not a side trip from Vigan on the same afternoon.

VRM Mobility provides private, chauffeur-driven transportation from Metro Manila to Vigan. Whether you're planning a heritage visit, a family tour, or a longer Ilocos itinerary, we can arrange a suitable vehicle based on your itinerary, passengers, and luggage.

Calle Crisologo and the Vigan heritage center

Getting to Vigan from Metro Manila

Vigan is in Ilocos Sur, on the northwest coast of Luzon. The usual drive uses the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and the Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEX), then the national highway north through La Union.

The expressway portion is the faster part. After TPLEX, the highway through the towns is slower, and a late departure from Manila often means arriving after dark. Leave in the morning.

With a private vehicle and professional driver, you can travel with your luggage from a residence, hotel, or office, and stop for meals on the way without changing vehicles.

Places to Visit in Vigan

The heritage center is compact. A full day on foot, with the vehicle nearby for the stops outside the old streets, is enough for most first visits.

Calle Crisologo

Calle Crisologo is the old street visitors come to see: ancestral houses, shops, and horse-drawn carriages along the cobbles. It is best in the morning, before the day gets hot, and again in the early evening when the street is lit.

Vehicles are restricted on the street itself. The driver uses a pickup point at the edge of the heritage area.

The cathedral and the nearby plazas

St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral and the plazas around it sit beside the old town. They are a short walk from Calle Crisologo and fit the same morning.

Check service times if you want to see the interior. The visit does not need its own long transfer.

Bantay Bell Tower

The bell tower in Bantay is just outside Vigan and is the usual short drive from the heritage center. It works as a late-afternoon stop on the day you are already in town.

The road is straightforward. It is not a reason to add an extra travel day.

Pagburnayan

Pagburnayan is the pottery district, known for burnay jars. It is a short drive from the old town and a good paired stop with Bantay when the group wants something beyond the cobbled street.

Workshops keep their own hours. A morning visit is the safer plan.

Suggested Vigan Multi-Day Tour

If you're planning a first visit from Metro Manila, here's a sample three-day itinerary. A longer Ilocos tour should be quoted separately.

TimeActivity
Day 1, morningPickup from Metro Manila
Day 1, afternoonArrive in Vigan and check in
Day 1, eveningA walk on Calle Crisologo
Day 2, morningCathedral area and Calle Crisologo
Day 2, afternoonBantay Bell Tower and Pagburnayan
Day 3Depart for Metro Manila, with meal stops on the highway

This is a sample itinerary only. Travel times, house visits, and workshop hours may vary. Laoag, Pagudpud, and other Ilocos stops add more days. Departure and return times should be adjusted according to your booking and traffic conditions.

Private Transportation to Vigan

VRM Mobility offers chauffeur-driven transportation for different travel requirements. Vigan is quoted as a long-distance, multi-day trip from Manila, driver included. The quotation should include the nights the driver is away from Manila.

Long-Distance Tours

Suitable for couples, families, and small groups whose main destination is Vigan. The booking covers the drive north, local stops outside the walking streets, and the drive back.

Multi-Day Ilocos Trips

If the itinerary continues past Vigan, send the full list of towns and nights. A longer route changes the vehicle time and the driver accommodation.

Group Transportation

Passenger vans and larger vehicles can be arranged for families and groups traveling together, subject to availability. Share the passenger count before the travel date.

Choosing the Right Vehicle

The right vehicle depends on your group size and luggage. A multi-day highway trip is more comfortable in a vehicle with room for bags, and the group will spend more hours in it than on a day tour.
